With the summer heat gradually overtaking the cool winds and school is about to clock out, families are now scrolling through destinations and crafting itineraries for the much-deserved break we’re all anticipating. As you go down the list of possible places for your family vacay, there’s one city that just tops it all – a Hong Kong getaway!

For first time travelers, there’s a treasure trove of must-see places waiting to be explored. But for those who have already visited the city, there is simply not enough times you can go back without discovering something new. Same goes for celebrity and blogger mom Kelly Misa-Fernandez who recently went on a family adventure with husband Carlos and their little Tristan in tow – non first-timers in the city, but they’ve uncovered hidden gems while discovering Hong Kong like a local!

We’ve got highlights of their fam-azing trip with new and timeless attractions which should earn a spot in your family’s itinerary.

First stop was a trip to the city’s highest point on HK Island to get the best view of the cityscape, The Peak. The journey to the top is exciting in itself as the family rode The Peak Tram. The tram ride can be enjoyed by everyone as the steepest funicular railway in the world. Taking only seven minutes, it is a visual experience to remember, as skyscrapers glide past at what appear to be impossible angles while the tram makes its ascent. Kelly and the gang also made a quick stop at the 3D attractions before heading to the top!

In the 1960s and 70s, locals who came to swim in the harbour used the Sai Wan Swimming Shed for changing clothes and storing belongings.  Nowadays, it has become a popular spot for shutterbugs and photographers alike, the perfect instagrammable place for a family shoot. After a bit of a walk, you can already capture the long wooden bridge, panoramic sea views and stunning twilight, just like father and son Carlos and Tristan enjoying the view.

One of the highlights of the Misa-Fernandez family was embarking on a fascinating sightseeing tour through genuine Hong Kong aboard a 1920s-style open top tram. The TramOramic tour gives you a different perspective of the bustling streets, ultra-modern cityscapes and attractions. The tramway is a living, evolving connection between Hong Kong’s colourful history and modern culture, an ideal tour for families who want to learn more about the city.

To top it off, a visit to Hong Kong’s timeless attractions should always hold a place in the itinerary for every family adventure. Kelly and the family experienced the magic of Hong Kong Disneyland and the wonders of the Grand Aquarium in Ocean Park.
